At Thirteen Games we're looking for a Backend Services Engineer to join our team and help us build Nova Island!

Nova Island is a mobile online card game that combines aspects of PvP battlers, chess, poker, stock markets, and life into a strategic, fast-paced experience.

What you'll be doing!
Assess and update existing infrastructure to improve functionality and stability
Transform design specifications into server-side game systems and services
Architect new game services (Golang) using concurrency best practices
Share ownership of the server-side codebase with the Engineering Team
Meet regularly with the team on our company Discord server
Play the game regularly to keep up with the latest changes
What we’re looking for!
A self driven Senior Engineer who is:
Comfortable hitting the ground running in an existing code-base
Able to lead and architect major new enhancements
Excited to be a key contributor on a small team
Available immediately for high priority tasks and continued weekly support
Knowledgeable and comfortable using AI tools to assist with development
Technical Experience!
Google Cloud Platform services
Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, Blue/Green Deployment
Building backend data services, API's, or Microservices in production environments at scale
Golang (or similar) in a production environment
Working with relational databases (ex. MySQL)
Websocket & RPC Protocols
Containerized applications (ex. Docker)
Real-time, networked applications
Redis
Pluses!
Experience with Unity
Experience working on mobile games
Experience with Notion
